The girls of Miches are eagerly awaiting the start of the Soy niña, soy importante Summer Camp!

We're excited to announce the launch of our fundraising season for "Soy niña, soy importante!" Every donation, big or small, received by June 15th will help us bring Soy nina, soy importante to more girls this summer and throughout the year.

In 2023, Soy niña, soy importante remained committed to innovation, forging new partnerships, and advancing initiatives to empower girls and young women in the municipality of Miches.

In commemoration of International Day of the Girl, we organized a film forum featuring the movie Ramona at the Miches City Hall to talk about children's rights. Students from the Padre Daniel High School, local authorities, colleagues from the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI), and presidents of the neighborhood councils attended the forum.

The 2023 edition of the Soy niña, soy importante summer camp successfully culminated with the participation of 300 girls from Miches, who for three weeks enjoyed recreational activities with transformational messages that invited them to trust, empower and explore their inner self.

Every participant of Soy niña, soy importante embarks on a journey of self-recognition and self-worth, developing the confidence to know that she is capable of achieving her most cherished dreams. We remain faithful to the commitment we made 10 years ago to protect each girl’s childhood, guiding them in making timely life choices, and educating them and their community regarding their rights.

Grupo Bentrani and Fundación Tropicalia have joined forces in a fundraising event in support of the initiative "Soy niña, soy importante", with the objective of promoting the integral development of girls in Miches, El Seibo province.

In the month of March we celebrated International Women's Day, a date aimed at highlighting the value of women, uniting activists around the world, celebrating achievements and taking action to help improve and protect the rights of women and girls.

The Network of Ambassadors for Soy niña, soy importante, is composed of 18 influential figures in the country, giving voice, visibility and social awareness about the condition of Dominican girls and women.

At Soy niña, soy importante we welcome another year full of opportunities to continue to positively impact the girls and teens of Miches. 2022 marked our 10 year anniversary alongside our girls, and it has renewed our commitment to continue our efforts to protect their childhood and defend their rights.

As we close out 2022, we want to thank everyone who has helped make this initiative possible! To all the friends, family, donors, sponsors, ambassadors, partners and colleagues, thank you! It takes a village and we could not have done this without you.

At Soy niña, soy importante we carry out awareness campaigns that entice interest and amplify the reach of important messages. Such is the case of the photographic mural "Listen to me, I am the present", a project that gives a microphone to the girls who participate in our initiative so they can say strong and loud what it means to a girl for them.

Soy niña, soy importante forms part of the Global Wellness Institute’s new digital film series, “In Pursuit of Wellness: The art & science of living well,” which explores the importance of wellness in every aspect of life, covering 17 inspirational stories of wellbeing from across the globe. One of the stories, “Taking Charge” features a Dominican girl living in a rural community whose image of herself transforms as a result of participating in Soy niña, soy importante.

"Listen to me, I am the present" showcases the voices of young girls that have participated in our initiative and captures their declarations about what it means to be "them". The work of Soy niña, soy importante seeks to empower girls from an early age, encouraging them to reach for their dreams.

As of this Monday, July 25th, we’ll be reunited with our girls for the annual summer camp, Soy niña, soy importante, an initiative hosted by Fundación Tropicalia, where the girls of the Miches community learn to defend their rights, achieve their dreams and develop their abilities.

A children's book by Yina Guerrero, illustrated by Yatxel Sánchez in collaboration with Fundación Tropicalia, depicting the image of the Dominican girl through the eyes of Yamila, a girl from Miches who is afraid of not fulfilling her dreams.

The Soy niña, soy importante Ambassadors Network has been pivotal in advancing our cause. This year marks the fifth anniversary of our Ambassadors Network, which is made up of influencers that have powerful voices and platforms in the Dominican Republic.

This year Soy niña, soy importante turns ten and we are CELEBRATING everyone who makes this beautiful project possible; your ongoing dedication and passion has impacted more than 1,200 at-risk girls from Miches, a coastal town in the province of El Seibo, Dominican Republic.

Grupo Bentrani hosts an event to encourage individuals to join efforts in supporting the integral development of the girls of Miches through the Soy niña, soy importante initiative of Fundación Tropicalia.

Promoting female empowerment and accompanying girls and adolescents in the construction of a life project are initiatives close to Fundación Tropicalia, which now joins the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the creation of a Girls Club “Fabricando Sueños" (Making Dreams), an initiative developed for the communities of the municipality of Miches, El Seibo province.
