Recovering a Sports Court for La Gina
As part of our School Renovation and Maintenance Program (PRyME), Fundación Tropicalia restored this sports court located in the TV Centro La Gina High School. Our work included painting, scrubbing and installing basketball hoops alongside volunteers from the local community.
A New Face for Miches – FT and Artemiches Paint the Town

During the month of February every town in the Dominican Republic celebrates Carnaval, a local celebration commemorating the distinct cultures and traditions throughout the country. Every January, Fundación Tropicalia hosts a party to celebrate the previous year’s accomplishments of the School Renovation and Maintenance Program (PRyME). Since 2008, FT has worked with the Miches School District and the Ministry of Education, to bring the PRyME program to 12 schools in the area.
Costa Esmeralda Beach Rescue Program
Creating awareness of environmental protection initiatives
January marks the completion of the beach rescue activities at Costa Esmeralda, hosted by Tropicalia and FT. Initiated in June 2013 the project was created to raise awareness on recycling and beach maintenance in the area.
A Kick Start Meeting for the Inclusion of Micro and Small Enterprises in the Sustainable Tourism Value Chain in Miches
The month of August has proven to be quite monumental for the BID/FOMIN project, the 36-month development project which will organically certify 300-500 agricultural producers and will establish 5-10 micro and small businesses (MSEs) to supply goods and services to Tropicalia and other anchor companies, as we officially kick off the project.

We’re most familiar with the cultural institution Artemiches as the host of Cultural Week, held every year in Miches towards the end of June, but it’s most recent initiative includes the transformation of 64 homes located alongside the town’s main entrance road.
First Harvest from the Agricultural Diversification Project
