Fundación Tropicalia has continued its support, awareness and conservation efforts of the coasts and beaches of Miches with multiple actions, as part of their work of its Environment area.
On the one hand, 2016 marked the fourth year of our ‘Costa Esmeralda Beach Rescue’ program, which aims to maintain and preserve the main tourist attraction of Miches and enforces environmental regulations in collaboration with local authorities. In this regard, we highlight the cleaning and preparation of the beach on Easter along with the City Council, the Civil Defense, the National Police, Tourist Police and the Dominican Navy.
On the other hand, through our support and presence in the Tourist and Cultural Cluster of El Seibo-Miches, in we have promoted the creation of the 'Playa Arriba Rescue Committee', which integrates local authorities, community and tourism entrepreneurs with to promote its conservation.
The committee’s first initiative took place on September 17th, on the International Beach Cleaning Day, attended by a large group of community members, activists, students and authorities, who voluntarily participated in the Playa Arriba clean-up day.
With great effort and the support of the community of Miches, we will continue to work in 2017.
