Tropicalia’s Shared Value: Building a Sustainable Supply Chain

Shared value is a management strategy focused on companies creating measurable business value by identifying and addressing social problems that intersect with their business. We are proud to state that Tropicalia has done just that by adopting this management style early on. Sofia Perazzo, Executive Director of Fundacion Tropicalia, sat with the Shared Value Initiative to discuss Tropicalia’s shared value strategies that integrate Miches and surrounding communities into the tourism sector via an inclusive business model.

Perazzo’s interview highlighted Tropicalia and Fundación Tropicalia’s $1.6 million partnership with the IDB-MIF to cultivate local supply chain from which Tropicalia and other anchor companies can source goods and services. This 36-month training program for local farmers and entrepreneurs is meant to cultivate and position Miches as a sustainable tourism destination. By diversifying and fortifying the local economy, Tropicalia and Miches will be able to reduce the risks most often associated with conventional tourist destinations. To view the full article click here.
