This year Lucas Guibbes, an Elementary School located in Miches’ town center, participated in Fundación Tropicalia’s PRyME (School Renovation and Maintenance) program. Together, the education community, FT and Green Love (a recycling company based in Santo Domingo), decided to organize the school’s trash system by building a recycling and waste separation center. Green Love has volunteered it’s time to teach students about environmental awareness and recycling. As a final culmination to this great project, all the students at Lucas Guibbes, along with Fundacion Tropicalia will organize a field trip to the Miches beach, Playa Arriba, to undertake a beach clean-up and recycling initiative.

WE RECOMMEND
The three most awaited weeks of the year are about to begin in Miches!
Every participant of Soy niña, soy importante embarks on a journey of self-recognition and self-worth, developing the confidence to know that she is capable of achieving her most cherished dreams. We remain faithful to the commitment we made 10 years ago to protect each girl’s childhood, guiding them in making timely life choices, and educating them and their community regarding their rights.
Gallagher: Teaching girls their value
I’m a big fan of giving back and making a difference, especially when it is for children in need. I also believe that making a difference has no boundaries. So sit back and let me take you on a trip to the Dominican Republic. That’s right — the D.R., a place where many residents of our valley head to hit the beach, windsurf, kite surf and let the good times roll.
