Part of the continuing efforts of Fundación Tropicalia’s School Renovation and Maintenance Program (PRyME) is to carry out small maintenance projects throughout the year to ensure that schools maintain environments conducive to learning. Most recently a five day maintenance project took place at El Guaco, a primary school located in El Cedro, where members of the community volunteered hours to execute this project with the help of Fundación Tropicalia. El Cedro is a community known for its artisanal fishing in Laguna Redonda and El Guaco is home to nearly 40 of its students. Some of the project’s goals included the construction of three bathrooms, drainage repair and construction, and landscaping.
