Gustavo A. Roman, our dear friend, team member and General Coordinator of Fundación Tropicalia is the proud recipient of the Cisneros scholarship for Georgetown University’s Global Competitiveness Leadership Program (GCL).GCL is a one-of-a-kind program dedicated to promoting a new generation of socially responsible, innovative and ethical leaders in the Ibero -American region. These young leaders are rewarded with a full scholarship and participate in a 12-week program at Georgetown University where they learn about political, corporate, nonprofit, professional and personal leadership. In addition, participants develop a social impact project while at Georgetown to be carried out in their respective home countries. These projects promote the program’s focus on action and aim to produce a multiplier effect to expand the reach of the GCL program throughout the region.

Camp Miches Saludable
Fundación Tropicalia, under the scope of the USAID/REDDOM project, inaugurated Camp Miches Saludable, a one-week summer camp designed to educate children regarding healthy food choices, organic farming and exercise. Thirty eight campers ages 13-18, from the communities La Mina, La Gina and La Culebra, participated in workshops on health, hygiene, organic agriculture and healthy eating, among others.
Philanthropy and profitability: the new DNA of companies
The president of the Cisneros Foundation is the third generation at the head of Venezuelan group that his grandfather founded 84 years ago, one of the largest corporations of the media and entertainment world. Today, Adriana dedicates her efforts to unite business and philanthropy. According to her, "it is completely natural to combine both worlds."
