My family and I have always cherished the Dominican Republic and have called it home since I was a young child. It is a beautiful country, with some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world and such warm and inviting people, it was impossible not to fall in love. So it is with great pride and joy that we celebrate this moment as today marks the beginning of Tropicalia’s journey in becoming an emblem of sustainable luxury tourism throughout the world.

While Tropicalia may be breaking ground this year and is set to open in 2018, we have been present in the region since 2008 through our work with Fundación Tropicalia. Our vision for this project has always been long-term and in order to do so we realized we needed to commit to the community from the get-go. Fundación Tropicalia has worked hand-in-hand with the community driving sustainable, socioeconomic development in the region through initiatives in the areas of productivity, education, environment, and wellbeing and culture. We’ve seen the community flourish and together we have grown very close with one another.

In two years we will open the doors to our first property, a Four Seasons Hotel designed by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld, together with a golf course by Tom Doak. We are grateful to be working with partners who understand the value of sustainability and incorporating local culture in their designs.
